When an owner of a property dies it is necessary to register their death on the Title.

If the property is held by the owners as Joint Tenants ownership will revert automatically to the surviving tenant.  In this situation, an Application to Note Death is required to be registered on the Certificate of Title.

If the property is held as Tenants in Common, Probate will need to be obtained and the Executor of the Estate will be responsible for ensuring a Transmission Application is registered on the Certificate of Title.  Often this is performed once the property is sold.
